BUFFALO’S COMMITMENT TO INDIGENOUS PEOPLE & COMMUNITY
Buffalo Inspection Services Inc. is committed to the Indigenous people’s communities where we are working. Through developing relationships built on trust, respect, honesty and inclusion, Buffalo focuses on client consultation and collaboration, allowing for the development of an operational plan that brings value to Indigenous people’s communities.
Buffalo Inspection services currently has 5% of our existing staff as status Indigenous people. At Buffalo, we understand and respect the rights and heritage of Indigenous people. We recently signed a one-year Memorandum of Understanding with ArcBuilt Industrial. ArcBuilt is an Indigenous owned company that partners with small and medium-sized business to build capacity and capability for the benefit of Indigenous people. This partnership will help foster Indigenous participation through relevant training, employment opportunities and sub-contractor development. We will continually endeavour to begin with and maintain, through each project, sensitivity concerning the communities in which we are operating. We believe that Indigenous people play a significant role in the development of our natural resources and we will continue the recruitment of Indigenous people into our company both permanently and on a job-to-job basis.
Buffalo has a broad and comprehensive distribution of local offices across western Canada in support of local community support and development. We currently have fully operational offices staffed in Fort St John, Kelowna, Edmonton, Estevan and Grande Prairie. In each of these locations we are endeavoring to identify and collaborate with Indigenous owned companies and bands, to ensure we are supporting our ongoing belief that partnerships of this kind are reflective of a true community spirit and respect for Indigenous people in these locations.
