This procedure involves electromagnetic analysis “on the rig floor” whereby we provide the client computer generated reporting of our client’s production tubing which will detect wear patterns, pitting, cracks, gouges splits etc. – all problems that can drastically reduce the runtime longevity of our clients tubular products.

Remote Field Testing for Tubing

Remote Field Testing (RFT) is a fast, reliable screening tool to asses the condition of ferrous tubing (carbon steel, ferritic stainless steel and Duplex). It works typically at very low frequencies (100 Hz to 1 kHz) and very high signal gains (> 80 dB) and can inspect up to 12 mm (1/2 in.) of carbon steel pipe.

Typically two channels are used for examination: absolute for wall thinning and differential for localized defects. RFT is very good at wall thinning measurement, but less with pitting compared to ECT. To improve inspection results, you should clean the internal bore of tubes with some form of water jet lancing tool.
